Discipleship Courses & Leaders |
Calvary's CEI courses (both discipleship classes and groups) are taught by Calvary members for the purpose of challenging, equipping and involving other believers in the purposes of God for their lives. The following are some of the criteria used by the Discipleship Office when screening new CEI course proposals:
- The course leader must be a Calvary member in good standing commended by others for their teaching ability and personal walk as a disciple of Christ.
- Course leaders understand and accept the responsibilities that come with their role as a leader in the Discipleship ministry.
- The course curriculum must be approved by the Discipleship Office as being doctrinally sound and generally consistent with Calvary's faith and practice.
- All Discipleship courses have as their primary objective the sanctification or spiritual growth of their class participants. Everything else, from the teaching of Bible doctrine and Christian worldview to the sharing of biblical principles for marriage and family or financial stewardship is secondary to the goal of presenting "everyone perfect (or complete) in Christ" (Colossians 1:28).
- In most cases, discipleship classes and groups meet from 6:30 - 7:30 when there are programs and opportunities available for every member of the family.
- As a general rule, we seek to avoid offering multiple classes in the same quarter that focus on the same topic or target audience (e.g., financial stewardship or parenting preschoolers).

Calvary's discipleship classes typically begin in September, January and April. Some classes remain open for the duration of the course while others are closed to new participants after the first two to three weeks. All of these classes are open to both Calvary members and non-members. The only charge for these classes is the cost of the materials that are used in each class.
Most classes are offered at Calvary on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 when there are programs available for every member of your family. Some of the classes are offered at various other times during the week and these times are noted in each course description. Course listings are published by the Discipleship Office prior to the beginning of each quarter.

Calvary's discipleship groups also meet for the purpose of prayer, Bible study, spiritual formation and ministry equipping. Discipleship groups differ from our discipleship classes in that the participants in these groups are predetermined and so the groups are not published along with our other discipleship classes.
Some of these discipleship groups meet at Calvary on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 when there are programs available for every member of your family. Many of these discipleship groups, however, meet as home Bible studies or at various other times and locations during the week.
